This policy explains what information is processed in MateUp, why it is used, and how permissions can be managed on iOS and Android devices.
1. Information we collect
Account information: email address, display name, basic profile information from the relevant provider when Google or Apple sign-in is used, and email verification status.
Profile information: username, profile photo or avatar, optional gender information, age/birth date, country, city, spoken languages, preferred communication languages, games, game league/score information, platforms, play style, microphone status, active hours, active days, and optional social links.
Communication and interaction information: matches, messages, shared games, block/report records, and in-app preferences or filters.
Subscription information: in-app purchase status such as Premium state, product identifier, platform, and subscription expiration time.
Device and app information: selected app language, session state, device permissions such as notifications or photo access, aggregated app-usage events, and technical information needed for troubleshooting.
2. How we use information
To create accounts, sign users in, verify email addresses, and maintain secure sessions.
To display your profile, suggest gaming companions, create matches, enable messaging, and apply your filters.
To enable Premium features, remove ads, and keep subscription status consistent across devices.
To review abuse, spam, harassment, or safety risks and protect the community.
To open the app in Turkish or English based on your choice and remember your preferences in future sessions.
3. Firebase, Google, and service providers
MateUp may use services such as Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, and Firebase Storage for authentication, data storage, and profile photo storage.
MateUp may use Google Analytics for Firebase to measure basic usage events in aggregate, including first open, sessions, screen views, and app interactions. This data is processed to analyze app performance and feature usage. Advertising identifier support is not used by the iOS Analytics integration.
MateUp may use in-app purchase services such as RevenueCat to verify and manage Premium subscriptions.
MateUp may use Meta App Events to measure app events such as installation and first open, evaluate marketing performance, and improve the app. Meta may process the app version, device/platform information, app interactions, and—when permission is granted—an advertising identifier for this purpose.
When you sign in with Google, Google provides the token and basic account information needed to verify your identity. Your Google account privacy settings are managed by Google.
Email verification and password reset links may be sent through Firebase.
4. iOS and Android permissions
Photo library or gallery permission may be requested to choose a profile photo. If denied, photo upload features may not work.
If notification permission is granted, match, message, or account-related notifications may be sent. Notification permissions can be turned off in iOS or Android settings.
On iOS, Apple’s App Tracking Transparency permission is requested separately for advertising measurement. If permission is denied, the advertising identifier is not shared with Meta; basic aggregated app events may still be measured without that identifier.
MateUp does not need to collect precise location; profile location can use country and city information that you choose.
Web links opened from the app may use secure browser or authentication screens provided by iOS or Android.
5. Sharing and visibility
Some profile information may be visible to other users, including username, photo/avatar, optional gender information, city/country, games, platforms, languages, and optional social links.
Messages are used for the relevant match conversation and may be reviewed when safety, reporting, or legal requirements apply.
Your personal information is not sold. It is not shared with third parties except for necessary service providers, safety processes, or legal obligations.
In-app ad requests are sent as non-personalized requests. An advertising identifier may be used only when device and operating-system permissions allow it, for app-install attribution and marketing measurement. On iOS this use is subject to Apple’s tracking permission.
6. Retention, security, and your choices
Your information may be kept while your account is active or for a reasonable period needed for safety or legal requirements.
You can sign out, edit profile details, change the app language, and manage device permissions from operating-system settings.
You can permanently delete your account and associated data from Profile > Account Settings. A content-free audit record using a one-way identifier hash may be retained for up to 90 days for security and proof of completion.
For privacy or data requests, use the published contact address on the in-app Support and Safety page.
7. Children’s privacy
MateUp is not designed for people under 16. If you believe someone under 16 has created an account, you can report it to us.
8. Changes
This policy may be updated from time to time. For important changes, we may notify you in the app or through other appropriate channels.
